Wines by KT are small, lovingly cared for parcels of fruit that have traditional techniques used in their creation. I’m passionate about the township of Watervale 5452 and am working with dry grown, sustainably farmed vineyards in the area. With gentle care from grapegrower to winemaker, working with sustainable principles, it’s my intention to produce wines with drinkability and personality.
5452 Shiraz 2019
This wine has been produced using traditional techniques of open fermentation and basket pressing. Hand-picked fruit was carefully selected and fermented naturally on skins in picking bins. Gentle hand plunging of the individual ferments and minimal working has produced a vibrant wine with bright red berry fruit, spice, and long tannins.
Basket pressed, the wine was matured in 100% French oak and mainly 3 and 4-year-old French oak barriques to ensure that the fruit is the defining feature. The 2018 vintage 5452 is 100% shiraz that uses 1970’s and 1950's contour planted Shiraz vine in red loam over limestone & slate over clay.
These Watervale vineyards have a rich red loam soil overlying slate and the dry grown vines are shoot thinned, hand pruned, and handpicked to ensure the best possible fruit selection each season.
